We all can agree when it comes to BLs, Thailand is the kings out of all and China for bromance, right? China has already created masterpiece of bromances like “The Untamed”, “Mysterious Lotus Casebook”, and “The Spirealm”, whereas Thailand has created record-breaking BLs like “KinnPorsche”, “I Feel You Linger in The Air”, “Last Twilight” and more.

However, both countries are now experimenting with the opposite genre and achieving success recently. For example, recently Chinese BL “Meet You At The Blossom” was released around July, 2024, without any censorship, with the help of Taiwan’s management. And fortunately, as per updates more are expected in the near future too. All the while, Thailand’s major entertainment company like GMMTV has also stepped up its game with the recent, highly-talked-about-series “High School Frenemy”, a successful execution of a perfect bromance.

Stay With Me (2023)

“Stay With Me”, a 2023 Chinese bromance series adapted from the novel “Are You Addicted”, starring Xu Bin and Zhang Jiong Min tells the story of Su Yu, a boy in high school who lives with his father only, faces a significant alteration in his life when he discovers his mother remarried a wealthy man, resulting in him to having a step-brother overnight. Wu Bi, who has personality that is total opposite of Su Yu, is his newfound stepbrother.

Wu Bi transfers to Su Yu’s school leading for the two to interact with each other on a daily basis. Despite being complete opposites and facing numerous challenges, Wu Bi and Su Yu forms a strong bond between them, making each care deeply for the other.

High School Frenemy (2024)

The recent bromance series from GMMTV, “High School Frenemy” is a perfect example of “Chemistry so good, people mistake them as gay”. And, to tell you the truth, its exactly like this in case of this recently ended bromance series. “High School Frenemy”, a story of a once-pure pair of close friends becoming each others sworn enemies after a disastrous incident in their life.

A decade-long feud has been ongoing between the two campuses, Udon Pithak and Thep Burapha, of Siamwit High School. As the school suffers from financial deficiency and a bad reputation both inside and outside the school, the principal and executives come up with a solution to retrieve both by merging the two rival campus gangs, Udon Pithak and Thep Burapha, by putting the two in a same class.

Shin from Udon Pithak, is unwilling to go back to the situation with Saint of Thep Burapha to a time when they used to be extremely close friends of each other. As predicted the situation only worsens day by day in the school. However, it is the only way left for the school management to save the school by merging the two campuses into one and ending their decade-long friction.

Both the series have one thing in common that might intrigue you to watch, which is the serving of undeniable chemistry between the leads.
