Two new adult-romance Japanese BL series, ‘Can You Kiss Me First’ and ‘Ao To Midori’ premiering in October, unveil short-form trailers!
Two workplace-set Japanese BLs, ‘Can You Kiss Me First’ and ‘Ao To Midori‘ are about to premiere in the upcoming month of October. Official pages of the respective series have revealed short form trailers of their upcomings today on September 17, 2026 consecutively, ahead of their premiere in October.
Both the upcoming BL series ‘Can You Kiss Me First’, and ‘Ao To Midori’ share some common tropes such as friends becoming lovers, workplace romance, secret feelings, but are in reality the two stories are totally distinct plotwise from one another in story concept and crafting. While ‘Can You Kiss Me First’ explores the push and pull relationship of two departments ace’s and their growing feelings for one another and is heavily based on the theme of workplace romance, ‘Ao To Midori’ focuses more on the unrequited feelings of two high-school friends, who were once rivals to each other, have passed eight years without confessing their feelings to other.
Can You Kiss Me First
‘Can You Kiss Me First’, a co-workers to friends to lovers series is an adaptation of the manga series of the same name by Yamayade, depicts the sprouting love story of Kanda, the ace of sales team and soon to be manager and Ueno, a skilled, devoted member of accounting department.
Although on the outside it might seem the two do not blend well with each other, in secret they share a close bond of friendship since their early working days. Kanda and Ueno are the type of close friends who even crash at night at each other’s place, or more likely Kanda barges into Ueno’s private spaces.
From the latest unveiled 30-seconds trailer we get to witness a mirroring energy of the live action characters to the manga characters, which already promises on the solid watch experience for the viewers upon its airing. Suzuki Jin is seen portraying the calm-collecting, composed Ueno, whereas, Oshida Gaku nails the act of high-energy Kanda in the revealed preview.
Directed by the same director of ‘Jack O’ Frost‘ (2023), Takahashi Meigetsu, the upcoming workplace romance series, ‘Can You Kiss Me First’ would premiere on October 19, 2026 on Fuji TV. The nationwide online streaming of the series would be available on FOD and TVer. Information relating to the international streaming of the series is yet to be revealed by the officials.
Ao To Midori
When both are in love, but cannot spell it out to each other, it gets hard to bear the feelings as days pass, right? Exactly this is how eight precious years of bearing unrequited love have passed in Ao and Midori’s life without them confessing their feelings to one another.
The brand new trailer which has been released for the upcoming series, ‘Ao To Midori’ showcases the heavy emotion, longing feelings and a strong will to be together in the main character’s actions. From the preview it should be acknowledged that the main cast, Kusakawa Naoya and Chinen Hidekazu have wonderfully presented the emotions of the characters, Yamamura Midori and Hayama Ao.
A slow-burn love story, ‘Ao To Midori’ tells the story of the unrequited love of Hayama Ao who has feelings for his high-school friend, Yamamura Midori, who have once considered Ao, as his rival, however, the two eventually becomes a pair of close-friends who sticks together until the very end.
Unknown to Ao, Midori too bears the same feelings for Ao as him, which makes the story more complex when both the parties refuse to confess their feelings and drag on with it for years, hurting themselves endlessly.
Ao To Midori, directed by Kitagawa Hitomi is also an manga series adaptation of the same name by author Roji, is going to have 10 episodes in total. The series is scheduled to premiere early in October, on 5, 2026 on Tver (nationwide virtual streaming).
