Serizawa and Suzuki inch closer to one another in the latest episode of Popular Serizawa Acts Weird Around Me!
The ongoing lighthearted, high-school setting Japanese BL, ‘Popular Serizawa Acts Weird Around Me’ aired its fifth episode, today, on September 8, 2026, And guess what? The closeness between Serizawa and Suzuki deepened in the latest episode as the two spend their first date disguised as research for Suzuki’s novel writing topic material.
Serizawa, a complete heartthrob both in series and in the hearts of viewers, again has won full points for his straightforwardness and showcasing genuine-adorable care for Suzuki. And not only that, the two spend their whole day together on an aquarium date doing all the things Suzuki’s favourite BL characters did, which only shows how intensely Serizawa thinks and cares for Suzuki’s likings.
Three Times Serizawa Stunned both Suzuki and the Viewers in Episode 5
The episode contained various scenes which won over the hearts of the fans all over again, however three scenes were there which stunned us all the most!

Serizawa’s Way of Respecting Suzuki’s Boundary
Suzuki who goes to Serizawa’s home after school (episode 4), gets held back by febrile Serizawa, who requests Suzuki to stay with him in the most endearing way, which is too much for Suzuki to decline. Episode 5 begins showing Serizawa initiating a kiss before asking permission from Suzuki, however in the next scene it is shown all of that were just a dream Suzuki had seen.
But the main highlight comes in the scene right after that, where Suzuki gets flashback from the day before at Serizawa’s house where Serizawa tried to embrace Suzuki but as Suzuki felt being not prepared for it, he runs off from Serizawa’s house by saying him goodbye for the day, where we get to see the consideration of Serizawa who respects Suzuki’s decision without holding him back to stay any longer.
Serizawa Planning a Wonderful Date for Suzuki
Serizawa, who never fails to appreciate Suzuki’s interest and taking a step forward for deepening their relationship takes the chance to ask Suzuki on a date, and out of all, he chooses the exact place Suzuki’s favorite BL characters had visited.
Serizawa takes Suzuki on an aquarium date where they visit all the beautiful spots Suzuki’s favorites did, which clearly brought a bundle of joy and a continuous series of smiles on Suzuki’s face.
Serizawa Finally Taking the Initiative for their First Kiss
At the ending scene we see Serizawa and Suzuki reaching the spot where Suzuki’s favorite characters had shared a kiss. Serizawa asks Suzuki if he is planning to include a similar scene in the novel he is currently writing, excited Suzuki says he is thinking of doing so.
Now, here comes the scene which stunned us all, at first Serizawa just tried to create the vibe practically for giving Suzuki the ideas for his writing. As usual of the gentlemen, he backed down without initiating anything that might come off as forceful or could hurt Suzuki. However, after noticing Suzuki being affected by his action, and sensing Suzuki’s actual desires at that moment, Serizawa finally goes for the long-awaited kiss.
Now it is to see how actually in the next episode Suzuki behaves around Serizawa after their first kiss.

An additional scene where Serizawa truly wins the heart of all the viewers over again is when Suzuki badmouthes about himself at the cafe after facing the curious glances of the people being beside Serizawa, Serizawa not only confronts Suzuki but also consoles him with genuine words. Serizawa points out all the things he likes about Suzuki one after another which truly encourages Suzuki.
Cast: A high-school, ‘crush to lovers’ series, ‘Popular Serizawa Acts Weird Around Me’, adapted from the manga series, ‘Yokya Shudan ni Iru Serizawa wa, Ore no Mae da to Yosu ga Okashii’ by Tsubaki Yuzu, starred Koizumi Kosaku (Suzuki Hajime) and Shisaka Ryoto (Serizawa Haruto) in leads. Meanwhile, Kimura Kaiki (Takeuchi Tomoaki), Hayama Yuki (Iwasaki Shun), Tanaka Shotaro (Saeki Yuma) and Yoneo Kento (Matsuno Shota) acted in key support roles.
